Women’s Super League: Arsenal 3-1 Bristol City: Gunners back on top after coming from behind

Arsenal shrugged off an early shock to beat Bristol City and return to the top of the Women’s Super League.

Jordan Nobbs brought Arsenal level just before the break with a first-time strike from Caitlin Foord’s cross.

Foord made it two early in the second half and Vivianne Miedema ran through unchallenged late on to seal the win.

Arsenal have a maximum nine points from three games and have moved above Everton, who won 6-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday, on goal difference.

But they found themselves a goal down in the sixth minute as Ella Mastrantonio caught Leah Williamson in possession and fed Harrison, whose shot was not well struck but still crept past keeper Manuela Zinsberger.

Miedema had the chance to equalise immediately but, after rounding Sophie Baggaley, her shot from the angle was blocked by Aimee Palmer at the near the post.
