If you’ve spent the past nine months Googling ‘When is Amazon Prime Day this year?’ then last night’s news will have you beyond elated. The retail giant just announced the date of their biggest sale of the year and it’s just a few weeks away, starting on October 13.
Originally scheduled for July (when the two-day sale has typically happened in recent years), Amazon Prime Day was postponed this year due to COVID-19 and its effect on supply chains. But with the holidays fast approaching, the new mid-October date will allow Prime members to start saving on gifts and essentials well ahead of the Thanksgiving sales period (the five day span that the company has lovingly renamed the “Turkey 5”), which makes the event — and Prime membership — arguably more appealing.
If this year’s Amazon Prime Day is anything like last year, there will be lots of best-sellers and top-rated items included. We’ve got our eye on the new Echo Dot (which has already been announced as part of the sale with a two-for-$39.98 deal, see below), premium appliances (fingers crossed for Vitamix Blenders and Instant Pots) and other home essentials (we predict robot vacuums will be huge).
And if the retailer continues to one-up itself as it’s done in year’s past, there will be even more deals and special promotions for Prime members to take advantage of. So bookmark the dates — October 13 and 14 — and become an Amazon Prime member if you aren’t one already, because discounts are only available to members. With any luck, we’ll all be done with our holiday shopping in October.
Below, we’ve pulled together an FAQ on everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2020. Be sure to check back in the coming weeks for the best Prime Day deals and other highlights, and read on for our Prime Day wishlist.
