A Baltimore native who prepped at Towson Catholic High School and was an All-Metro honoree by The Baltimore Sun in 2007, Walker has spent the last six seasons at the University of Massachusetts where she was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

Last year, Walker was a recipient of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s prestigious Thirty Under 30 Award, Marriott Bonvoy & Morgan Stanley Global Sports, an honor that recognizes up-and-coming coaches at all levels of women’s basketball.

“While it is always rewarding to see a former player choose to go into coaching it is special when they return to their alma mater, and I am ecstatic to welcome Candice back to Loyola,” Loyola head coach Joe Logan

Natasha Cloud named one of the most influential women in sports by Sports Illustrated

Natasha Cloud named one of the most influential women in sports originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Without taking a single step on a WNBA court this season, Washington Mystics’ Natasha Cloud had as much of an impact on public discourse surrounding women’s basketball as any player in the league.

By sitting out the entire season to focus on social justice efforts, Cloud sacrificed her entire Mystics salary in 2020. In doing so she could have potentially jeopardized her status in a league that is one of the most competitive, in terms of making a roster, in North American sports.

On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated named her to their new list called The Unrelenting. It is intended to celebrate “the women in sports who are powerful, persistent and purposeful in their pursuits—for athletic greatness, gender equality, social justice and more.” It lists the most powerful, most influential and most outstanding women

Denmark’s Pernille Harder named UEFA women’s player of the year

Danish forward Pernille Harder, who recently signed for Chelsea, was named the UEFA women’s player of the year at a ceremony on Thursday on the sidelines of the men’s Champions League draw.

Harder, 27, helped German club Wolfsburg to the final of the Champions League, where they lost to reigning champions Lyon.

“I am super happy and very, very proud,” said Harder in a video message after being named the winner.

The prize perhaps carries greater weight this year because there will be no Ballon d’Or, organisers France Football cancelling that gala ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Harder came second to Ada Hegerberg for the inaugural women’s Ballon d’Or in 2018.

She was the top scorer in last season’s women’s Bundesliga with 27 goals in a 22-game campaign as Wolfsburg defended their title, and netted a total of 103 goals for the German side in 113 appearances over three
