PARIS, Oct. 4 (Reuters) – Schiaparelli showcased its third ready-to-wear collection on Sunday, featuring a sleek wardrobe with surrealist touches for next summer.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the collection was presented via a video which showed creative designer Daniel Roseberry sketching it and filming models on the streets of Paris.

“I still feel like I’m living a dream”, Roseberry, 35, told Reuters, referring to his journey from his conservative childhood in Texas to his appointement at Schiaparelli in April 2019.

Roseberry designed a wardrobe made of both essential and eye-catching silhouettes expressing a desire to bring the brand forward while honouring the heritage of a house founded by the Italian-born Elsa Schiaparelli in the late 1920s in Paris.

How Many Lives Can a Fashion Brand Have?

Then there is the American fashion brand Bill Blass, which was purchased in 2008 by the entrepreneurial brothers Cin and Peter Kim, who made their money producing dress shirts and neckwear for the mass market. The Kims hired designer Chris Benz, formerly of J. Crew, to reposition the brand for Gen Xers, and, like the Dayans, focused on direct-to-consumer e-commerce. The new Bill Blass hit the market in 2015 to much fanfare, but it failed to lift off. Mr. Benz left the company, and today Bill Blass only sells shoes. There is currently nothing available on its website.

Rykiel has already been through this once. In February 2012, when the Rykiel family sold the company to the billionaire brothers Victor and William Fung of the Hong Kong manufacturing firm Li & Fung, there was lots of talk of potential, with grand plans to “ensure the longevity of the brand,” as

Why it matters when Black Lives Matter clothing is banned

Formula One has banned drivers from wearing clothing bearing messages while performing official duties. The decision came after Lewis Hamilton wore a top at the Tuscan Grand Prix on 13 September that said “Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor”.

Since March, celebrities have not shied away from wearing clothing in support of Black Lives Matter (BLM) at high-profile events – but not without a backlash. The Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka was told to “keep politics out of sport” when she brought seven face masks with the names of different victims of police brutality to the US Open. Almost 2,000 people complained to Ofcom – which has yet to decide whether to investigate – about the BLM necklace worn by Alesha Dixon on Britain’s Got Talent (only a few weeks after the programme received 24,500 complaints – later dismissed by the regulator – about a performance by the dance
