SYDNEY (Reuters) – Cash-strapped Qantas Airways Ltd on Wednesday launched a range of pricey athleisure clothes as its latest revenue-raising scheme to help weather the coronavirus pandemic.

The branded range includes A$150 ($107.46) T-shirts and A$425 cashmere sweaters designed by Australian Martin Grant, and comes after recent sold-out sales of bar carts from retired Boeing Co 747 planes and business class pajamas and amenity kits.

Qantas has grounded the bulk of its fleet and raised equity and debt to boost liquidity during the pandemic, which has seen it announce plans to cut nearly 30% of its workforce. It is bracing for a A$10 billion hit to revenue this financial year because of border closures and lower travel demand.

On Saturday, 150 passengers joined a

Latest economic model spurs interest in new NASCAR teams

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Justin Marks tried three times to buy the NASCAR equivalent of a franchise license that guarantees a car a spot in each week’s race. Twice he was outbid, he said, and a third deal fell apart.

Without that charter, Marks had almost no chance to get his team on track in 2021. He ultimately had to lease one from another organization to become the second new NASCAR owner to announce a team in the last month.

As NASCAR plans for the 2022 cost-cutting introduction of the “NextGen” new car, the demand for charters has soared. At least three have been sold since August — ownership records of each charter are not updated by NASCAR until the start of a new year — and the

•••••••

• Whether one was happy or, well, not so happy, was determined by the quality of the school’s crossover opponent. It’s that simple.

Everyone knew their school would be playing the other five members of their division – South vs. South; North vs. North – so the only suspense lay in the crossover opponent.
