Seattle Storm sweep Las Vegas Aces in dominant fashion, win record-tying fourth WNBA championship

The Seattle Storm are WNBA champions again. Already up 2-0 in the 2020 WNBA Finals, they took care of business in impressive fashion on Tuesday night, beating the Las Vegas Aces, 92-59 in Game 3 to complete a three-game sweep. This is Seattle’s second title in the last three seasons and the fourth in franchise history.

With the win, the Storm tied the now-defunct Houston Comets and the Minnesota Lynx for the most titles in league history with four. In addition, the Storm matched the Comets with a perfect record in those appearances, going 4-0. Even more impressive is that in all of their Finals appearances combined, the Storm have only lost one game.

Wee Kirk Las Vegas Wedding Chapel demolished

For eight decades, the oldest continually running wedding chapel in Las Vegas served marrying couples, including many high-profile celebrities, in the heart of downtown.

On Saturday, it was torn down.

The demolition of the Wee Kirk Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, at 231 S. Las Vegas Blvd., seemed to catch many by surprise, including the Nevada Preservation Foundation.

“This one wasn’t even on our radar because it was functioning pre-pandemic,” said foundation Executive Director Heidi Swank, an outgoing Democratic assemblywoman who noted that her group did not realize the building might be in danger.

As such, there had been no efforts by the foundation to nominate the chapel for a historical registry, whether local, state or national, according to Swank. She said she was alerted to the demolition work on Saturday, when a foundation board member who drove by it sent her a text message.
